The Emporium
The Old World Emporium is the more curious side of The Lamp-Post: a cabinet of beautiful, useful, peculiar, and occasionally unnecessary things. Its shelves will hold our hand-poured candles alongside stationery, gifts, curiosities, small objects, and discoveries chosen from makers in France and further afield. The idea is not to recreate the past, but to preserve some of its pleasures — writing a letter, lighting a candle, keeping a diary, wrapping a beautiful gift, or surrounding yourself with objects which deserve to be treasured. Some things will be practical, some romantic, and some will exist simply because we could not resist them. The assortment will change continually, giving The Emporium the feeling of somewhere worth rummaging through rather than a conventional gift shop. It is where the literary world of The Lamp-Post spills off the page and into everyday life. If The Bookshop is about what you read, The Emporium is about the life you build around it.
